Social-emotional learning at Little Nestlings
Social-emotional learning is woven into daily life at Little Nestlings. Children practice naming feelings, taking turns, solving problems, expressing ideas, caring for materials, collaborating with peers, and feeling safe in a group setting.
Our teachers support children with warmth, observation, and relationship-based guidance. Children are encouraged to build confidence, independence, empathy, emotional regulation, and meaningful connections through play, conversation, storytelling, art, outdoor exploration, and everyday classroom routines.
Why Choose Little Nestlings?
Holistic Development
Our preschool program is carefully designed to support the whole child: cognitive, physical, verbal, emotional, and social development. Children build confidence, independence, communication, problem-solving skills, and relationships through daily hands-on exploration. Our classrooms and outdoor spaces in West Linn are designed to inspire curiosity and act as a third teacher.
Child-Led Learning
We follow the Reggio Emilia approach, respecting children as competent learners with interests and insights about the world. Our role is to facilitate and guide their learning journey in our West Linn preschool environment.
Kindergarten Readiness
We prepare children for kindergarten by supporting the skills that help them thrive in a group learning environment: listening, communication, patience, collaboration, age-appropriate motor development, problem-solving, confidence, and emotional regulation.
Community Connection
We believe in the strength of community and the powerful learning that occurs through relationships. Little Nestlings is not just a school but a family where children, parents, and educators come together in West Linn.
